Sir James joined Ocean Wall as a Consultant in January 2026. He is a strategic adviser to a number of companies covering Defence, Robotics, Agri-Science, and Family Governance and Structuring.
From 2013 to 2025, Sir James was the CEO of Weybourne, the Dyson family office. During his 12 year tenure, he played a central role in building Weybourne, devising and developing its strategy and governance, and establishing its global headquarters in Singapore.
Prior to joining Weybourne, Sir James served in the British Army for 36 years. His senior appointments included Commander of NATO’s Allied Rapid Reaction Corps, Deputy Commander of Coalition Forces in Afghanistan, and Director of Counter-Terrorism at the UK Ministry of Defence. He served on operations in Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan before retiring in 2013 in the rank of Lieutenant General.
